CREATING AND GROWING A COMMERCIAL HIGH ASPECT RATIO METALMEMS (LIGA) FOUNDRY

Initially founded as a captive source for micro optical component alignment structures, the LIGA foundry at Axsun Technologies has made a successful transition into a commercial LIGA foundry. In making this transition, Axsun encountered issues that are important to the success of any manufacturing business, as well as issues that are unique to the commercialization of emerging and disruptive technologies. Along the way we learned valuable lessons, in terms of both successful and "less successful" strategies and tactics for addressing these issues.
