NANOMEDICINE AND THERAPY ENABLING DEVICES AT MILLENNIUMPHARMACEUTICALS

Millennium industrialized its microarray and microfluidics platforms to create pharmaceutical drug target identification productivity to fill its drug discovery pipeline. Examples will be briefly reviewed. The industrialization of microarrays and microfluidics is guided by regular use of quantitative measures of productivity, scrap rate, efficiency, quality, appropriateness of the assay and assay success impact.rnIndustrialization metrics are the criteria to guide choices of platforms and technologies. Millenniums drug discovery pipeline is thus now full of validated drug targets resulting in numerous clinical trials with a focus on oncology and inflammation. Millennium consumes large numbers of microarray and microfluidic chips. Millennium is now assessing how, and for what uses, NanoTechnologies will be put to use in the next generation of BioTech generated product applications such as NanoMedicine, NanoContrast Medical Imaging Agents, Therapy Enabling_doctor on a chip_ Devices and Personalized Medicine. What the opportunities may be will be extensively reviewed. Millennium plans to purchase reasonably developed NanoTechnology products for use, rather than be an inventor of fundamental NanoTechnologies.
