Performance of Photovoltaic Modules in Northern and Southern Countries

Up to now, PV modules are rated under standard test condition (STC, IEC standar 1215) ,d.e. at an irradiation of 1000 W/m~2, a module temperature of 25℃ and the light spectrum AM 1 .5. Albeit a good measure to compare PV modules at internationally standardized conditions, it is not helpful to assess the energy collection of PV modules in outdoor operation. Using Fraunhofer ISE's concept of reporting module performance at realistic reporting conditions (RRC), an assessment of solar resources and module performances will be given for northern and southern countries, both on a yearly and seasonal timescale.
