Nonlinear excitations in lower-dimensional magnetic systems, such as magnetic chain structures or magnetic thin films can be modeled by a generalized nonlinear Schroedinger equation. To model narrow pulses, fifth order nonlinear terms as well as higher order linear and nonlinear dispersive terms are included in this equation, and exact soliton solutions are obtained.
