Amoco No.2 Olefins Ars Revamp

Amoco's No. 2 Olefins unit at Chocolate Bayou, Texas was revamped using the Stone &Webster Advanced Recovery System (ARS) to achieve approximately 550,000 pounds per year or about 227,000 metric tons per annum (MTA) increase in ethylene production. The revamped unit ethylene capacity will be approximately 1.76 billion pounds per year or about 800,000 MTA. The initial unit nameplate ethylene capacity was one billion pounds per year. This revamp also increased polymer grade propylene (PGP) production from 420 million pounds per year to about 580 million pounds per year or 263,000 MTA.
