The yearly sales volume of cement siding board and housing start in Japan was recorded as high as 130 million square meters and 1.6 million units in 1996. Thereafter, however the rate of housing start dropped as much as approximately 20%. Thereafter, sales volume had been tracing approximately in parallel to fluctuations of the rate of housing start. The rate of diffusion of the cement siding board in the total amount of exterior wall in Japanese residential house built in 2001 had reached over 70 % in Japan. In October 1, 2001, Nichiha Corporation merged with the cement sidings department of Mitsui Lumber Co. LTD. The share of Nichiha Corp. in this field will be increased by 6 % to 32 %. In this study, we tried to furthermore improve the qualities of cement bonded particle board by a combination of using wood strand such as 3 cm, 6 cm and 10 cm in length and the carbon dioxide gas curing process. Resulting in successfully obtaining such higher level bending strength values. The highest one showed over 30 MPa in bending strength ( MOR ) by a combination of the C02 gas curing and oriented strand forming process.
