Effect of Fibre Extraction and Retting Processes on the Properties of Pineapple Leaf Fibres (PLF)

摘要

Good quality of unused pineapple fibres are abundant and can be extracted as new source of fibre. These fibres can be a good source of additional income for pineapple farmers since the wasted fibres can now be sold rather than thrown away thus reducing the solid waste production. An environmental approach for extracting and retting of the PLF using enzymes commonly used in treating bast fibres was conducted in the study to test for their effectiveness.
