What is in your BMP toolbox? Collaborative New Product Review Program and Applications for Stormwater Management Programs

This paper identifies some of the industry technology transfer clearinghouses and also featuresrntwo particular programs - the IUPUI NPR/IPV program and the New Jersey Corporation forrnAdvanced Technology (NJCAT) Program. Understanding the role that these organizations fulfillrnand utilizing the “lessons learned” from their investigations will help to refine the storm waterrnBMP tool box for many public works agencies whose program and watershed resources arernlimited. Access to such resources will guide decisions, help formalize environmental programsrnand improve the effectiveness of storm water asset management, given the rapidly increasingrninventory of new and retrofitted stormwater BMPs. A case study is also presented to illustraternhow published performance data was utilized by DC Water for a manufactured stormwater BMPrnapplication at the National Arboretum in Washington D.C.
