The evolution of IP-based applications and wireless mobile network has created the demand that Internet users have wireless Internet service like wired. Mobile IP can support mobility with its own IP address in wireless mobile network, but it has some drawbacks such as triangular routing and fast handoff Though several methods have been proposed to solve these problems, they are not fundamental solutions. Since SIP supports terminal mobility and Cellular IP provides micro mobility, Mobile IP/Cellular IP and SIP/Cellular IP approaches can solve the above problems. In this paper, we analytically compare these approaches in terms of the delay time in registration and handoff time.
