The advent of the Web and the more recent use of the Web as a full-scale platform for application development has exacerbated the traditional "impedance mismatches" that exist in different aspects of software development models, tools, and techniques. Web applications built using current technologies not only must deal with many complex and interacting layers, but they must also make laborious translations to compensate for these mismatches. This makes the Web application modeling and development process needlessly complex, difficult, and expensive. We present a vision for a model-equivalent Web development language that resolves impedance mismatches present in the current Web environment The proper implementation of this language would enable a simpler, less expensive, and more thorough Web development lifecycle by supporting conceptual modeling and system implementation in a seamless environment without the need for compensating translations between analysis, design, and implementation representations of a Web application.
