Detecting debris using forward looking sensorsmounted on road sweeping vehicles

摘要

This paper describes the development of a sensor system to detect and classifyrnroad surfaces and debris. This will allow road sweeping brushes to be adjustedrndynamically to provide more efficient sweeping of debris. The sensor system used forrnthe experiments in this paper combines laser striping with more advanced imagernprocessing techniques. The main issues in the project are the wide variety of debris arnroad sweeping vehicle can encounter and the very limited image processing timernavailable to affect sweeping.
