Anodization of AZ31D magnesium alloy was investigated in chromium-free electrolyte containing KMnO4 、NaOH 、Na3PO4·12H2O 、AlCl3 and NaF. The anodized film was studied by corrosion potential measurement, microscopic analysis and X-ray diffraction. The corrosion potential data reveal that the corrosion resistance of Mg alloy is increased after anodization. The morphology and structure studies show that the anodized film is porous and composed of Mg3(PO4)2 、MnF and α-MnF2.
