Human centred systems, culturally specific or universal?

This paper argues that all production systems are social constructs derived from the cultural norms of societies. In the absence of a universal culture, all production systems are culturally specific. The development of human centred production systems are facilitated by a clear understanding of the cultural context in which they are located Furthermore, there is an argument that human centred production systems may be a peculiarly European response and may confer competitive advantage to Europe.
