There are several choices available today for recycling contaminated aluminium scrap. One of the most successful technologies is the Shredding / Thermal Decoating / Re-Melting route. This paper will consider the various stages involved and outline the major characteristics in each case. Experimental and actual plant data will be presented to reinforce theoretical considerations.
