As is known, the most typical failures occurring in rock mass are shear and compression failures.rnThey can be caused by both nature and human factors and often result in dynamic rock pressurernmanifestation in mines. To identify the mechanism and parameters of such failures the experimentsrnwith using test devices are conducted.rnThe experiments were carried out by using shear and uniaxial compression test deviсes to determinernphysical-mechanical properties of rocks in the Khibiny rock massif and establish the nature of theirrnfailure under the different loadings. Test samples had parallelepiped and cylinder forms. The shear testsrnwere conducted by varying the parameters of the vertical loads. Uniaxial compression tests werernconducted by changing loading rates. Also, when carrying out experiments on shearing samples we usernsteel springs attached to a shear device. In this case the dynamic load was created due to energy transferrnfrom the springs to the samples. As a consequence, an effect comparable to the rockburst in the rockrnmass occurred.
