摘要

Woody waste from thinning of forests is one of the most potentially useful forestry energy resources for the future. Other forestry wastes are sometimes considerable, however, increasing the level of these resources are difficult practically because of the limitations of the timber industry in Japan. The area of afforested land that could possibly be thinned in Japan is 10M ha (M=million); this could be accompanied, with some difficulty, by additional thinning for a total forest area of 25M ha. The ultimate potential resources of thinned wood in Japan are estimated at 25Mt-dry biomass/year.
