Introduction Copper-cerium oxide catalysts have attracted much attention for their low cost and promising activity, which is correlated with the synergistic effects at the copper-ceria interfacial sites. The electron transfer between Cu2+/Cu+ and Ce3+/Ce4+ is considered as the source of the interaction, however, little attention was paid on this. From this standpoint, the present work explored the influence of cerium precursors (i.e. (NH4)2Ce(NO3)6 and Ce(NO3)3) on the redox properties and catalytic activity of CO oxidation.
