Introduction, A novel oxidation of cyclohexene to adipic acid using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant has been investigated, in which Na2WO4 with inorganic acids was proved to be effective catalysts [5]. Main by-products of this oxidation include glutaric and succinic acids, with minor amounts of 1,2-cyclohexanediol etc. intermediate being formed. Experimental, A rapid quantitative HPLC method was developed for the determination and monitoring of major product, by-products and intermediate products in the oxidation of cyclohexene to adipic acid with hydrogen peoxide. A mixture of succinic acid (SA), glutaric acid (GA), adipic acid (AA) and 1,2-cyclohexanediol (Diol) was separated using an RP-chromatogram system.
