Upgrading ot Grain Terminals in Northern New South Wales

Many of the grain terminals in northern New South Wales have been in service for more than thirty years. Economic pressures dictate that the throughput rates of these terminals should be increased substantially. The approach has been, where possible, to upgrade the existing elevators, conveyors and transfer systems without making major structural changes. This paper discusses the design issues involved in these upgrades. Upgrading has demonstrated that substantial increases in throughput rates can be achieved without making major structural changes. Consequently upgrading is an economic way of improving performance in these circumstances.
