摘要

A fast, high fidelity cell based traffic simulation model forrnfreeway is presented. The model formulation uses concepts of cellularrnautomata (CA) and car following models. The model is more detailed thanrnCA models with realistic acceleration and deceleration behavior ofrnvehicles. A simple continuous acceleration model is used to avoidrncumbersome computations as in car-following models. The simplicity ofrnmodeling allows larger volume of traffic to be simulated on the networkrnusing limited computational resources. Integer values are used to make itrnrun faster, which makes it ideal for simulation of traffic in real time.rnThe model represents realistic traffic behavior in congested and noncongestedrnconditions. The model has been validated macroscopically andrnmicroscopically using field data. The validation shows strong agreementrnbetween field and simulated data.
