Asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) is the latest high speed networking technology that is widely used for campus backbone and organizations. The advent of ATM has led to an important role for simulation since the exact analysis is difficult in most cases. This paper describes the modeling of ATM network simulation using the graphical NIST ATM/HFC network simulator version 4.0 [1] on the Linux platform. The simulation will discuss the performance of transmission control protocol (TCP) over available bit rate (ABR) service with high priority traffic like variable bit rate (VBR) and constant bit rate (CBR) based on UKM ATM network backbone and the effect of resource management cell interval on ABR feedback using Explicit Rate Indication for Congestion Avoidance (ERICA) switch algorithm. The simulation of UKM ATM network backbone shows that larger buffer size, smaller VBR on-off time, shorter averaging intervals and smaller target queuing delay increase the throughput and reduce the cell loss. The simulation of the effect of resource management cell interval on ABR feedback shows that the responses of allow cell rate (ACR) of sources will stabilize faster with smaller value of generated resource management cells
