Lean manufacturing-starting point

Kimberly Clark Australia (KCA) is in the early stages of a Lean transformation within their Millicent Mill. The introduction of Lean principles to a largely traditional manufacturing process has been on going for approximately 18 months. From an initial trial in a small low volume area of the mill the Lean programme is now being pushed out across the manufacturing and supply chains with many successes and some failures in its application.rnThis paper highlights the requirement to smooth and standardise the production schedule as the preliminary step in introducing a Lean programme.
