Novel use of mechanical pulp

摘要

In this study we attempted to validate a postulate that part of the long fibres in a TMP can be chemically modified to function either as a retention agent or as a reinforcement component in newsprint making. The experimental results have confirmed such a possibility. Our main objective was to eliminate or minimize the use of foreign elements such as cationic polymer and chemical fibre in newsprint manufacture and improve the quality of white water by using mechanical fibre alone.
