The chloridizing method using ferrous chloride was employed in this research to thermally treat the EAF dust, some results are as follows: Ferrous chloride can be used to volatilize Zn, Pb, Cd and Cu from EAF dust, the highest recoveries of Zn and Pb reached to 97.50% and 99.47%, respectively. Among the reaction parameters, temperature takes a dominant role in the chloridizing process. Below 1000℃, the increasing of temperature could improve the removal of Zn and Pb from EAF dust. As temperature exceeded 1000℃. there was no obvious increase in the recovery of the desired elements. The best temperature to treat this CDN EAF dust was about 1000℃. The amount of FeCl_2 used has been found some influence on the removal process in this study. For recovery of Zn greater than 95%. more than 55% of FeCl_2 is indicated.
