In the primary water system of pressurized water reactors,general corrosion leads to Ni release from the surface of steam generator tubes.Co is also released to the reactor coolant from the tubes containing impurity Co(0.014 wt.%max).Released Ni-58 and Co-59 are activated to Co-58 and Co-60 in the reactor core by a neutron flux and act as the main source of high radiation fields in the primary system.Therefore,the mitigation of corrosion products release is very important strategy for source term reduction.
