摘要

A structured method and numerical assessment of the failure probability of control rod systems of PWR are outlined based on detailed neutron-physics analyses and evaluation of operational reactor experience. An application to German PWR shows the methodical steps, type of results and related uncertainties. Common cause failures dominate the failure probability of the mechanical performance of the shutdown function by gravity driven redundant control rods (CR).
