At present, a small rotary motor with eccentric load is used for the vibration system of mobile phones currently on the market. However, while the miniaturization and thinning of mobile phones are progressing, further miniaturization and thinning of rotary motors is difficult.rnThe authors propose a novel linear oscillatory actuator (LOA) structure that is smaller and thinner than that of the rotary motor. The proposed LOA can vibrate a block that represents a mobile phone with an acceleration of 5.3 m/s2. Moreover, the volume of the proposed LOA is reduced by 20% compared with the conventional LOA.
