摘要

This paper discusses the technical characteristic and application principle of VRML according to the features of NC machining. Then it studies further the key techniques during the application of VRML in NC simulation. The first problems to be solved are simulation modeling and related VRML nodes that are bases of realistic graphic simulation. The identification and translation of NC code are the second important issues. They involve the determination of tool path and VRML nodes being related to the tool-axis position as well as the implementation of dynamic simulation and interference checking. Based on the solutions to the key problems, it presents the existing difficulties in the VRML application of simulation that are interactive ability and the simplification of VRML files. Finally, the attempt of NC verification has been completed through the combination of AutoCAD and VRML2.0.
