A NEW CAPABILITY FOR FIELDBUS SYSTEMS: PERCEPTIVE AWARENESS

Over the last years, increased efforts have been made in the area of home and building automation. The control systems have become faster and smaller, they are more useable and more efficient. However, they are still based on simple control systems supporting a pure reactive behaviour. In contrast, humans consider the consequences of their actions before embarking upon them. In this paper, extensions for fieldbus systems are described according to this insight. This paper shows how to process the information coming from different sensors to perceive the global environment, to recognise the current situation and to react in a preventive way.
