摘要

This paper proposes a new method to suppress the frequency variations of power system with a large amount of wind power generation installed which is based on the utilization of the kinetic energy of wind power generators. In recent years, environmental problems are becoming serious and wind power generation has been attracting attention and introduced throughout the world due to its less environmental impacts. Since wind power generation is an unstable power source in which its output fluctuates due to wind speed variations, wind power generator output needs to be smoothed when supplied to the power system. Therefore this paper proposes a control method to suppress the frequency variations by increasing or decreasing the wind power generator output using its kinetic energy according to the magnitude of the frequency variations. It is shown in the paper that the new method makes it possible to suppress the frequency variations with relatively small loss of wind generator output compared to the conventional MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) method.
