Successful Operation of a Large Film-Fill Electric Utility Cooling Tower System Using Treated Secondary Municipal Waste Water as Makeup Source

This paper describes the startup and first year operation of a film fill electric utility cooling water system utilizing treated secondary municipal waste water as makeup. Chemical treatment includes chlorine dioxide for biofouling control, a calcium phosphate dispersing polymer and pH control, with automated control of all cooling water parameters.
