Finishing of Board ― The Final Touch

The materials mainly used for the production of board are virgin fibres, recovered fibres and pigments. The demands on board products are diverse, ranging from protection of the packaged goods and food compatibility to good printability of the surface. Quality is influenced decisively by the fact that many board grades are triple coated, fewer are double coated. With regard to quality, the primary objectives of the finishing process are good coverage and even surface as a prerequisite for good printability. Brightness and gloss of the finish-coated board are important criteria as well. Finishing gives the board the "Final Touch".
