Audio Arts in Lunar Missions

With the multinational revival of lunar exploration, a practical opportunity exists for including arts in coming missions. In this paper we examine the prospect of incorporating audio art within radio transmissions to and from lunar orbiters. First we describe geometry and its effect on signals. Then we discuss modern telemetry, tracking and command systems, showing how it is possible to include audio, such as choral and instrumental music, with little or no impact on other project goals. Last we perform an original composition simulating the potential of an Earth-Moon-Earth audio experience.
