摘要

In this paper, effect of conductivity and cationic demand on the drainage properties of the model, TMP-based newsprint furnish, was studied. Free drainage was measured at two pH values, 5 and 7, as a function of concentration for several different ions. These measurements were conducted for several most typical retention programs used in newsprint applications. Results are discussed in terms of an impact of individual ions and in terms of the general impact of conductivity and cationic demand on drainage.
