The present paper shows an outdoor/indoor Fig-8 cable for FTTH applications. The cable is very easy to split, in order to gain entrance into the building with only the optical drop cable. Moreover, if the right fiber were chosen (a special bend resistant fiber), the cable could also withstand a very small bend radius (up to 5 mm). A comparison between the cable performance, with and without this special fiber, will also be shown. Together with the design description and its main characteristics, the paper will present the results of a field trial installation performed with the Fig-8 cable under study. Finally, a comparison between the different all-dielectric versions of the cable will also be shown.
