Special Design for Augmented LAN Cable

Standards for 10 GbE applications are still under discussion in international standardization organizations, like TIA, IEC and IEEE. It is expected to have the standard approved by TIA study group in February/2007.The draft of TIA specification guides us for new products development. Based on these current requests, it was developed some special design of cables to comply with them. One important characteristic for high transmission rate is Alien Crosstalk. Alien is the effect that happens when it is installed several cables together without separation. Alien Crosstalk is a coupled signal in a disturbed pair arising from a signal in a neighboring cable. Current standards define a test method to simulate this effect, binding 6 cables around one and making measurements of transmission performance. This configuration was chosen because 6-around-l represents the worst-case configuration and it's also representative of installation conditions. This paper presents a new design of cable UTP optimized for 10 GbE transmission and results obtained.
