The tool has minimized the data management effort and provided a visual representation of the I&C support of the plant component. This allows the reliability analyst to focus on the design. Now the reliability analyst can delve into how a plant component is supported by the I&C. More importantly, there is now a compilation of information for a specific plant component that can be used in conjunction with the other plant components to support function analysis, which is the ultimate goal. The graphical presentation and the data within each block will allow the reliability analyst to provide a focused FMEA for the component and simultaneously allow the reliability analyst to perform a function level FMEA. Finally, the tool has reduced the data management process from an average of 16 hours to 15 minutes per plant component. This amounts to a 98% reduction in time in data gathering and more focus on the analyses.
