摘要

ISRO has been in the space technology development ever since mid sixties of last century by launching sounding rockets for scientific experiments of upper atmospheric studies. Since then it has come a long way with proven capability in designing and building its own satellites for both remote sensing and communication purposes of the country and launching them using own satellite launch vehicles. This is a very unique achievement in the world scenario as in many countries the development of satellites and launch vehicles are done by different agencies. During the last forty years the design and development of the various technologies, materials, processes, test facilities, quality control methods, etc., has led to generation of enormous volume of data, information and knowledge with in the organization and effective utilization of these knowledge base has really become necessary at this time while a large band of experts are due for superannuating. An attempt is made in this paper to as to how such volumes of enormous knowledge base is being harnessed using knowledge discovery solutions to capture, organize, locate, control and reuse. The reliability of the knowledge information gathered would be highly useful in coming years when young entrants start their career. Though lot of advancement has happened in some of the technological areas, knowledge gained over the several years plays very important role in developing new technologies and test facilities.
