Vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) of systems consisting of both circularrnand elliptic cylinders restrained by two elastic tethers are investigatedrnnumerically. A new additional branch of combined quasiperiodic andrnnonstationary solutions is found in systems with a circular cylinder andrnwith an elliptic cylinder with high aspect ratio (ratio of minor and majorrndiameters). This additional branch does not appear in systems with anrnelliptic cylinder and an aspect ratio lower than 0.7, thus enablingrnstabilization.
