This investigation comparesrnperformance ratings obtained whenrntesting water-source heat pumps usingrnthe Air-Conditioning and RefrigerationrnInstitute (ARI) Standard 320 and thernInternational Organization forrnStandardization (ISO) Standard 13256-rn1. Multiple tests included a ducted 1.75rnkW (0.5 ton) unit and a non-ducted 3.52rnkW (1.0 ton) unit. Air external staticrnpressure and water flow were varied atrnthe ISO conditions to determine therncorrection in capacity and total powerrnmandated by the ISO standard. ISOrncooling capacity for the first and secondrnunits were 0.1 % higher and 1.1 % lowerrnthan the ARI capacity, respectively. ISOrncooling energy efficiency ratio (EER) forrnthe first and second units were 4.5 %rnhigher and 3.9 % lower than the ARIrnEER, respectively. ISO heating capacityrnfor the first and second units were 4.8 %rnlower and 2.9 % lower than the ARIrncapacity, respectively. ISO heatingrncoefficient of performance (COP) for thernfirst and second units were 6.2 % higherrnand 1.0 % lower than the ARI COP,rnrespectively.
