In the paper are presented some methods of buildings cooling load reduction, lowering - as much as possible -rncapacities of the refrigeration systems to be used in a building air conditioning systems. One way is to copy thernhuman body reaction to high ambient temperatures by perspiration, producing the evaporation cooling effectrnabove building facades using water flowing along fa?ade lowering cooling load and needs of mechanical coolingrn. To avoid use of large quantities of water a new coating technology with TiO_2, is developed. The facades,rneither’s of glass or a concrete, or any another appropriate material , are coated by TiO_2 which is hydrofillic so therndistribution of the water is becoming uniform with very thin water layer. The results of investigation of suchrnsystem are presented and discussed in the paper.rnThe another possibility is application of phase change material in building elements producing cooling effect inrncombination with natural or mechanical ventilation, or with the help of refrigeration mechanical systemsrnoperating during the periods of lower electricity tariff.rnThe effect of classical double facades are not analysed in this paper , as they are primary used for protection of arnbuilding in cold climates and cold periods of a year.
