As an information technology-enabled innovation, the consequences of the rapid diffusion of electronic commerce to Asia are far from clear. Following a brief map of the evolutionary path of money, the paper views the strategic interests of the actors in electronic commerce, aplies multiple scenario technique to reveal the likely impacts, and closes by applying lessons from the financial services industry to manufacturing firms and their stakeholders.
