摘要

Many of the technological barriers of automation of agricultural production system have been eliminated by advancements in sensors, computers, and vehicle systems. Still a number of solutions are required to assure safety, simplicity of operation, and affordable cost. The progress of automation is affected by the ability of technology to enhance productivity, quality of life, or other factors linked to societal benefit. Drawing on examples from recent experiences in vehicle navigation, this lecture will review the status of automation technology as related to its implementation into agricultural production.
