UK UNDERWATER ACOUSTICAL MEASUREMENT STANDARDS

This paper outlines the progress made so far in establishing the UK's underwater acoustical measurement standards, and looks forward to plans to extend the capability to cover the whole frequency range of interest, over the ranges of temperature and hydrostatic pressure applicable to simulated ocean conditions. The validation of these measurement standards is also discussed. The establishment of common measurement standards and traceability to national standards is of direct benefit to industry and commerce, and we envisage that UK and European companies will make considerable use of these facilities as they come on line.
