One Cask Fits All - The New MOSAIK® II-S for All Kinds of Intermediate Level Waste

As an extension of the established MOSAIK® cask family for intermediate levelwaste, GNS has developed a new cask which provides a high level of confidence tomeet all actual and future requirements imposed on waste packages for transport,interim storage and disposal in German repositories: the MOSAIK® II-S. With a widespectrum of included and optional features such as the inventory lid, a thermalprotection cover and the chosen materials, it is dedicated to meet also increasedcountry-specific existing and future requirements worldwide. This triple purpose caskwhich is made out of forged steel will be suitable for all ILW waste streams even withhigher activity arising from operation and decommissioning of nuclear power stations,especially light water reactors such as segmented reactor internals, resins,evaporator concentrates and all forms of sludge. System solutions in combinationwith waste processing facilities or adaption of the cask to existing facilities can beoffered.
