Static strain aging in ultra low carbon bake hardening steels has been studied in detail with specific reference to the industrial bake hardening process. The influences of the dislocation density, solute carbon content and the grain size on the bake hardening behavior have been examined. The pure matrix of the ULC-BH steels facilitated the precise examination of the strain aging process and the development of an in-depth understanding of the aging phenomenon.
