The Semantic Knowledge-base of Contemporary Chinese and its Applications in WSD

The Semantic Knowledge-base of Con-rntemporary Chinese (SKCC) is a large rnscale Chinese semantic resource devel-rnoped by the Institute of Computational rnLinguistics of Peking University. It pro-rnvides a large amount of semantic informa-rntion such as semantic hierarchy and rncollocation features for 66,539 Chinese rnwords and their English counterparts. Its rnPOS and semantic classification represent rnthe latest progress in Chinese linguistics rnand language engineering. The descrip-rntions of semantic attributes are fairly rnthorough, comprehensive and authorita-rntive. The paper introduces the outline of rnSKCC, and indicates that it is effective for rnword sense disambiguation in MT appli-rncations and is likely to be important for rngeneral Chinese language processing.
