With the fast development pace of the SAR missions, the data volume grows rapidly, so it is necessary for the future SAR missions to reduce the data volume. In this paper, Adaptive Azimuth Pre-filter (AAzPF) is proposed to reduce the azimuth data volume. The proposed method has been implemented on a single 6U board with double module redundancy for fault-tolerance by utilizing high-density Filed Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology, and verified with spaceborne SAR data sets and airborne SAR data sets. This method has attractive merits on high reliability, low mass and low power consumption.
