摘要

The geological hazards pose a serious challenge to the ecological system in the region of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, which include landslides, rockfalls, debris flow,earthquake, and so on. Among those hazards, reservoir induced seismicity is a public concern question, which is a special type of seismicity, with the characteristic of shallow source, high intensity, fast attenuation and adjacent to dam. It is inclinded to have a negative effect on the dam and reservoir, which can bring some troubles, such as the deformation of the dam foundations, cracking and instability of the dam, and meltdown of the reservoir. In addition, it can trigger landslid, collapse, and some other secondary disasters, that is, reservoir induced seismicity has dual danger.
