The Seismic Response Analysis of the Subway Station in Saturated Soft Soil

The problem about the seismic responses of subway stations has been recognized widely after the Kobe earthquake. But, in most of the current studies the subway stations are assumed to be located in the soil which is usually regarded as a kind of single-phase medium, and the research on the responses of the subway station in saturated soil is short. In this paper, an explicit finite element method to analyze the seismic responses of subway stations in saturated soft soil is developed. The saturated soft soil is modeled as saturated porous medium which defined by Biot, and the structure is modeled as single-phase elastic medium. By using this method, the earthquake responses of the subway station structure in the saturated soft soil are studied in some different conditions, such as different site conditions and different types of structures. All these studies can be helpful to establish perfect structure design methods for the subway station in soft soil.
